Terms of Use
Last updated: October 31, 2026
Welcome to Page Pals. These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and Hanna Freitag, the independent developer who makes Page Pals (“we”, “us”, “our”). They apply to the Page Pals extension for Google Chrome and to the pets, animations, outfits, reminders and updates that come with it (together, the “Extension”).
By installing or using the Extension, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not install the Extension, or remove it.
In short. Page Pals shows a cute 3D pet on the web pages you open and can remind you to take breaks. It is free, needs no account and works entirely in your browser — nothing you do is sent to us. The pet is a toy and the reminders are friendly nudges, not health or productivity advice. The Extension is provided as it is. This summary is for convenience; the full Terms below are what count.
1. What the Extension does
The Extension shows an animated pet of your choice on the web pages you open in Chrome. The pet moves around the page and reacts to what you do — for example, it comes to look at a link you point at, or hides its eyes while you type a password. You can feed it, play with it and dress it up; its needs and level are a game and have no value outside the Extension. If you turn them on, the Extension also shows reminders to stretch or drink water and runs a focus timer. You can turn the pet off for any site or completely.
Chrome does not let extensions run everywhere. The pet does not appear on Chrome’s own pages (chrome://), in the Chrome Web Store, in the built-in PDF viewer, inside frames or in very small windows, and it may sometimes cover a part of a page; you can move it by dragging it, make it smaller or turn it off. This is how the Extension and the browser work, not a fault.
2. Price
The Extension and all of its pets, outfits and features are free. We may offer optional paid features in the future. If we do, they will be clearly marked, nothing that is free today will be charged for without your choice, and any purchase will come with its own terms shown to you before you pay.
3. Your licence
We give you a personal, worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use the Extension in Chrome on devices you own or control, for any lawful purpose, as long as you follow these Terms.
You may not:
- copy, sell, rent or redistribute the Extension or a modified version of it;
- extract the pets, models, animations or artwork to use them in another product, or present them as your own;
- reverse engineer the Extension, except where the law allows you to do so despite this restriction;
- use the Extension in a way that breaks the law or harms other people.
4. Our pets and artwork
The Extension, including its pets, 3D models, animations, outfits, artwork, name and code, belongs to us and is protected by copyright and other laws. Using the Extension does not give you ownership of any of it. You may share screenshots and screen recordings that show the Extension in use.
5. Reminders and the focus timer
Reminders to stretch or drink water and the focus timer are simple, optional nudges. They are not medical, health or productivity advice and do not replace looking after yourself. They rely on Chrome running on your computer and may be late or not appear, for example when the computer is asleep.
6. Updates and availability
We may update the Extension to fix problems, add or change pets, animations and features, or keep it working with new versions of Chrome. Chrome usually installs updates automatically. We may also stop offering the Extension. We try to keep it working well, but we do not promise that it will always be available, work on every website, or be free of errors.
7. Google and Chrome
The Extension is distributed through the Chrome Web Store, which is operated by Google. Google is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the Extension. Your use of Chrome and of the Chrome Web Store is also covered by Google’s own terms.
8. Disclaimers
The Extension is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we do not give any warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. The pet is decorative and may sometimes be in the way. If it bothers you on a site, drag it aside, make it smaller or turn it off for that site.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer that the law of your country does not allow to be limited.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of the Extension or your inability to use it. Because the Extension is free, our total liability for any claim relating to it is limited to 10 euros.
These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
10. Ending
You can stop using the Extension at any time by removing it on the chrome://extensions page; this also removes your settings and your pet’s progress from that browser. Sections 4, 8, 9, 12 and 13 continue to apply after you stop using it.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may change these Terms from time to time, for example when the Extension changes or the law requires it. The “Last updated” date above shows when they last changed. If a change is significant, we will say so in the Extension’s Chrome Web Store listing and on this page. If you keep using the Extension after a change takes effect, the new Terms apply; if you do not agree with them, please remove the Extension.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the country in which the developer is established, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts there.
Before starting any formal proceedings, please contact us first. Most problems can be solved quickly by email, and we will try in good faith to resolve yours within 30 days.
13. General
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Extension. If any part of them is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. If we do not enforce a provision straight away, we do not give up the right to do so later. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms to anyone else; we may transfer ours to someone who takes over the Extension, as long as your rights under these Terms are not reduced. These Terms may be translated; if a translation differs from this English version, the English version applies, except where the law requires otherwise.
